On the evening of Friday 5th May, Careers Hurst will be hosting its first networking event for our Sixth Formers. The aim is to give them the opportunity – and more importantly time – to meet and engage with groups of individuals currently working within a variety of key professions. In addition, our professionals can also network with each other. The event will start in the Moore Hall with an introduction from 4 keynote speakers, before pupils will have the opportunity to network with the industry representatives in the Library above. We are likely to start at 18:30 and aim to finish at approximately 20:45.
We will provide light refreshments for the hosts and a mini bus to transport people from Hassocks station and back (appreciating many will be making the journey from London) to ease the travel burden. I am sure you will agree this event will be an invaluable opportunity for our pupils to find out from those who currently work in those professions what it is really like, the types of jobs available and possible routes of entry into those jobs. Additionally we hope that pupils will leave the event knowing how best to present themselves to those professions in the future and how to prepare for life beyond Hurst.
There really will be very little to prepare, no presentations or talks, just bring yourselves geared up to engage to share your profession knowledge with our pupils. It would be wonderful to hear from you should you feel you could spare the time to join us. Please do get in touch, ideally by early March, to confirm your attendance by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org. The professions we would like to have represented are: Marketing Communications – includes PR, branding, digital marketing, marketing, design Finance careers Financial Services careers Law careers Sports careers – including sports therapies The Arts, Theatre, Film, Production, Music, Tech STEM careers IT careers Property careers
An area dedicated to people working with people to help them to identify good career choices, skills identification, advice on how best to present yourself, graduate recruitment and apprenticeships.
