Wong, Nicholas

Wong, Nicholas

Nicholas died in an air accident off Greenland on Friday 23 September 1994, one week short of his 26th Birthday.

Nicholas had been at Hurst for ten years, five in the Junior School and then in Red Cross House under both Christopher Dean and John Evans as his Housemaster. Nicholas was a quiet unassuming, yet fiercely proud and determined young man who achieved good, all-round academic and personal goals at Hurst.

Having always wanted to fly, Nicholas chose to leave University in London and to learn his flying at Memphis, U.S.A. His hitherto successful progress and career was tragically cut short. His well attended funeral was held in the College Chapel on 7 October with the School Chaplain officiating. Nicholas Searls directed the Junior school choir accompanied by Adrian Stark the college organist.

Addresses and tributes to Nicholas were given by Anna Wong, his sister, Jeremy Head and John Evans.
