Johnson, Gordon P
Gordon died on 23 January 1990 after a short illness, aged 77.
At Hurst he became a School Prefect and participated in all sports, especially cricket which he continued to play at club level after leaving school. He was also prominent in the annual Shakespeare plays.
Gordon was followed at Hurst by his two younger brothers, Peter (Star 1932-37) and Geoffrey (Junior School & Star 1933-41).
After leaving Hurst in 1929 Gordon joined the family coachbuilding business, Thomas Harrington Ltd., in Hove, and subsequently became joint Managing Director. Throughout the war years the company was involved in war production for the aircraft industry and eventually became part of Rootes Group of companies.
