Hammond, Christopher

Mr John Hammond has written from the USA to inform us of the death of his uncle, Christopher Hammond.

The younger of two brothers who were at Hurst, C H Hammond was born in 1919 and was a school prefect. He left Hurst in 1939 and was commissioned into the Royal Norfolk Regiment. After the war he read Natural Sciences at Downing College, Cambridge.

His nephew writes: “Chris had a strong pride in his old school, and had retained many past issues of the Newsletter. I have also found many photographs from his school days, including good evidence of his participation in cricket and hockey.”
