Bill died on 14 July 1990. He was a School Prefect and Captain of his House. He was Captain of swimming and shooting.
He went on to St.John’s College, Oxford, where he was Captain of Golf.
He was an Insurance Broker and a Member of Lloyds. He was a Director of Wharf and Cold Stores in 1951, and of Cory Group between 1957 and 1967. During the last War he served in the Fire Brigade and then in the Army, becoming a Major. He was awarded the U.S. Bronze Star in 1945.
He was a very keen and successful golfer in his day. His nephew, Charles (Chevron 1951-57) and Charles’ son (F.W.J. Chevron 1983-87) were also at Hurst.
