Arnold, Phillip

Philip Arnold died unexpectedly in November, 2001.

After Emmanuel College, Cambridge Philip trained for the priesthood at Queen’s College, Birmingham. After a curacy in Failsworth which is between Manchester and Oldham he became Assistant Chaplain in September 1974 remaining until July 1977.
In addition to teaching Religious Studies he also taught French and Spanish. After leaving Hurst he was Chaplain of King’s College, Cambridge from 1977 to 1980 and then Chaplain of St Chad’s College, Durham from 1980 to 1983. He then moved to Plymouth College where he remained until 1996 before returning to parish work in Yorkshire.

In his time at Hurst, Philip did a great deal for the Chapel and was especially concerned with the development of worship in the Junior School.
