The AGM of The OJ Club took place on Sunday 19th May at Albourne Wine Estate. Open to all former pupils and honorary OJ’s, the meeting was well attended and followed by a tutored tasting of award-winning estate wines.
After an informal update on this year’s successful Travel Fund beneficiaries from honorary OJ, John Bettridge the meeting was called to order by retiring President, Antonia Hawken. Delivering her annual report she was pleased to leave the Club in a sound position and more relevant and proactive than for many years, signalling out the work of Ian Buckeridge, Nick Paddenburg, Gordon Roff, Rob Kift and John Hall for driving the change then went on to thank Sebastian Broster, standing down after five years as Honorary Secretary before introducing Nick Paddenburg, the Hon Treasurer, who presented his annual report and the accounts which the meeting unanimously adopted. The election of officers and the committee then took place with William Banham (Eagle 2002) elected Vice President and Ian Buckeridge (Chevron, 1980) elected President.
Situated only 3 miles from Hurst and within site of the chapel tower, Albourne Wine Estate was an ideal location for our Sunday lunch-time AGM, where our post meeting gathering was enhanced by a personal tutorial and wine-tasting of award-winning Sussex wines from current parent Alison Nightingale, owner of the private vineyard.
Following the AGM at Albourne Wine Estate, Alison Nightingale has agreed to extend a 5% discount on Albourne wines for all OJ’s. https://www.albourneestate.co.uk/
